SUMMARY

The UNSC Spirit of Fire, adrift after the events of Halo Wars, finds itself at the Ark, and comes into contact with the Banished, a group of Covenant defectors led by the Jiralhanae Atriox.  The Spirit of Fire is successful in fending off the Banished, and send Professor Ellen Anders aboard a newly-constructed Halo to human-controlled space to try and contact the UNSC.

Soon after Professor Anders' departure, the Banished devised a plan to take control of a Forerunner warship stationed on the Ark.  The Spirit of Fire sent ODST squad Sunray 1-1, who successfully stopped the Banished plan and destroyed the Forerunner fighter.

In June of 2559, Banished commanders Pavium and Voridus, on a mission to collect any and all materials that could help the Banished cause, breached a protective shield placed around the wreckage of High Charity and inadvertently released the Flood that had survived the firing of Installation 08 during the Battle of Installation 00.  Though suffering significant losses, the Banished were able to contain the Flood.
